One More Tune and Wall Records released superstar DJ Afrojack’s remix of The Wombats’ ‘Techno Fan’ on May 18th exclusively via Beatport.
“Techno Fan” is a jumpy, buzzing indie-dance track with the tongue-in-cheek refrain, “I never knew I was a techno fan.” Singer Matthew Murphy still doesn’t sound too enamored with the scene: “I went to a minimal techno rave in Shoreditch with my girlfriend,” he explained in an interview on the band’s website.“It was dirty, I didn’t stay there for long. I’ve never seen a longer queue for the toilets in my life. People had their hands up going ‘I actually need a wee’ and everyone in the queue would go ‘go on then’.”Afrojack is currently riding a wave of success that has elevated him to the status of one of the biggest and most influential DJs in the world. 2011 alone has seen him collect a Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording for his collaboration with David Guetta on Madonna’s ‘Revolver’, as well as two IDMAs (for Best Remixer and Breakthrough DJ) and a #19 slot on DJ Magazine’s prestigious Top 100 DJs list. A regular at the world’s hottest floors such as Pacha Ibiza, Miami Ultra Music Festival and Electric Daisy Carnival in Los Angeles, Afrojack landed his first UK single hit with 2010’s ‘Take Over Control’ and has also remixed artists including Lady Gaga, The Black Eyed Peas and Pitbull.
